"My family and I had a most comfortable week in this charming and spacious house in the beautiful village of Caldbeck. Though Susie, the host, wasn’t present herself, she was in easy contact. Friendly neighbours were also at hand to deal with more immediate issues should they arise and to share their local knowledge. The house was perfectly placed for exploring the area, but also great for just feeling at home. We even hosted a local friend for dinner in the garden one evening, overlooked by cows, bats and a local owl. Thank you Susie."

"We really enjoyed our week at Gill Beck. It is a bright, comfortable and well-appointed cottage, with everything we needed. We particularly appreciated the collection of walking maps and Wainwright guides. Caldbeck is a small quiet village with a nice pub and a small shop and post office and a couple of places serving food and coffee. It's a great base for exploring the Northern Fells, and there are some nice walks along the beck from the village."
